Leslie Kupetz is an active performer, conductor, and music educator with a diverse skill set. She began taking piano lessons at age 2 and has since gone on to study flute, trumpet, percussion, clarinet, saxophone, and many other band instruments! She joined band at Gotha Middle School in 2007 and graduated from Olympia High School in 2013 where she played in the Wind Ensemble & Jazz Band and sang with the Master Singers & Concert Choir. Leslie holds a Masters of Music Education and Instrumental Conducting from Florida State University (2021) and a Bachelors of Music in Music Education from the University of North Texas (2017). She teaches flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, euphonium, piano, voice, concert percussion, music theory, and conducting. She regularly sings & performs on flute, trumpet, and percussion having played and conducted in many venues across Florida and Texas.
Since 2021, Leslie has performed in the Dr. Phillips’ Steinmetz Hall and Pugh Theatre as a member of the Central Florida Community Arts Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Big Band, Orlando Sings Symphonic Chorus, as well as Encore Performing Arts. While in graduate school at FSU, Leslie conducted the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and Seminole Sound Pep Band and performed with the Wind Orchestra (flute), Campus Band (percussion), Choral Union (voice), and Graduate Chamber Choir (voice). While an undergraduate student at UNT, Leslie performed with the Green Brigade Marching Band (mellophone), concert bands (flute), jazz lab bands (trumpet), steel drum ensembles (percussion), and the basketball pep band (trumpet & mellophone).
Leslie Kupetz taught high school & middle school band for 5 years in Texas and Florida and is excited to now teach students privately and in small groups. She has experience teaching all band instruments, and has additional expertise in piano, conducting, jazz, voice, musical theatre, and music theory. Throughout her teaching career, Leslie has seen full band student success (UIL, MPA, Solo & Ensemble) as well as individual student success (All-County, All-State, Solo & Ensemble).
Leslie believes that high quality music education should be accessible to all. She is a great teacher because she creates a unique bond with each and every student, is knowledgeable and engaging, differentiates instruction for each student, and is approachable and fun so students feel comfortable asking her for help on how they can improve. In her free time Leslie can be found singing broadway show tunes, practicing different instruments, trying new recipes, and watching college football.
