An Ellicott City native, Korliss’s love for music began at the age of five when she started playing the piano in the studio of Edwina Hunter, MSMTA president. From those early years, her passion for music has only grown stronger. She began learning the violin at age 8, initially studying at Mike's Music and later with Dr. Jeffrey Howard starting at age 13.
Korliss’s dedication was recognized through multiple awards from the National Piano Guild, including the Paderewski Award and the Advanced Bach Medal. These accomplishments reflected her commitment to both technique and musical expression.
While at Bucknell University, Korliss played violin as a principal in the Bucknell Orchestra and continued her studies with Dr. Marcus Smolensky and Dr. Paul Grobey. She also studied piano with Dr. Qing Jiang. Korliss earned her Bachelor’s in Music from Bucknell University.
Now, Korliss is passionate about sharing her love of music with others. She performs regularly as a sub with the Columbia Orchestra and NIH community orchestra.
