About Joseph Sun

Joseph Sun is a Greater Seattle area Piano instructor. Born and raised in Issaquah, Joseph is now attending the UW Bothell studying business. Joseph started playing piano when he was 6 and played competitively until he was 13. He has played recreationally since and also expanded his study of music to guitar.

As an educator, Joseph has worked with students coaching youth golf with The First Tee for 4 years and shifted his passion for instruction to music. He finds that catering a lesson to each individual student is vital, and hopes to foster a healthy, efficient relationship between the students and piano. Joseph was classically trained but has experience in many other genres like jazz, pop music, and one of his favorites, musical scores from cinema or video games. Joseph believes in learning the fundamentals like reading sheet music and building muscle memory, but also understands that each student has their own specific goals. Ultimately his goal is to help students discover their passion for music, and gain a deeper understanding of how to express oneself through instruments.

Outside of music, Joseph loves playing sports, video games, and his dog!
