About Jonathan Chavez

Jonathan Chavez has always found immense value in creative expression. After he began studying piano in 2015, he decided he would dedicate his life to music, whether it be teaching, performing, composing, or any other discipline.

After studying both piano and violin throughout high school, Jonathan attended Texas Tech University where he studied piano performance under Tatianna Mann and Daniel del Pino. He also studied music composition under Jennifer Jolley and Hidecki Isoda. Jonathan took the opportunity to play in masterclasses taught by Lucille Chung and Jose Ramon Mendez. He graduated from TTU with a bachelors in music composition and piano performance.

Jonathan finds deep fulfillment in the act of teaching. Jonathan recognizes that it was his own teachers throughout life that guided his music journey to where he is today, and the opportunity to take part in that same journey for others is very special. While he takes this seriously, Jonathan’s primary goal is to make music a fun creative outlet for his students.

Outside of music, Jonathan enjoys connecting with nature through activities such as hiking and camping. Nature and the outdoors have even inspired some of Jonathan’s original musical compositions.
