    About Jocelyn Kutzke

Jocelyn Kutzke is a long-standing musician. She started out as a vocalist, but has made piano their main instrument for the last 7+ years. Jocelyn’s love of music started when she was a little kid, and her family went to church where her mom was a trumpet player for the church, and both of her aunts also sung for the church. Jocelyn also liked listening to the radio, specifically 98.1, which is a classical music radio station. She liked to fall asleep to whatever the station was playing.

Jocelyn loves singing. She started singing with her old elementary school choir, and continued to perform in choirs throughout middle and high school. She was a part of many different theatrical shows both in and out of school, either as leads or a background character. It wasn’t until her time at Bellevue College in 2018 that she decided to pick up the piano. She would spend a lot of time in the practice rooms playing whatever came to mind, and would also practice reading sheet music for her piano sequence classes. This would eventually overlap with her love of music production, building chords, melodies, and rhythms across various genres of music. Jocelyn eventually earned an AA in Arts and Sciences at Bellevue College.

Jocelyn’s skills and musical knowledge would expand over to Western Washington University, spending 4 years mainly as a vocalist. She would be given songs to sing by her vocal coach (which consisted of

piano and voice), where she would make time for herself to play both piano and voice. Jocelyn also loved learning about theory both at Bellevue College and Western, and studied under Brian Cobb and Bruce

Hamilton. She graduated at Western in the spring of 2025 with a BA in Music.

Jocelyn has also been a part of a couple of bands between 2024-2026, playing as a keyboardist and vocalist for Seagulls Shanty and Late State Lobotomy. Jocelyn also has solo work under the name jocelyn.wav,

creating electronic music and performing her work in various different areas around Washington State.

Jocelyn has taught at Bellingham Music and at Jocelyn’s Piano Studio since 2024. Jocelyn finds that music education is a great type of education for people who want to know how to properly express themselves, musically. Jocelyn believes that regardless of age, anyone can learn a skill, no matter how long it takes them. Jocelyn is also a big fan of jamming with her ukulele, which is something that she plans on incorporating into her lessons.
