About Jennifer Jones

Jennifer Jones is a talented teacher of piano, guitar, voice, and ukulele. Originally from Lewisville, TX, she has been a powerful and original jazz vocalist and writer with influences from Carmen McRae, Nancy Wilson, and Dianne Reeves to Brazilian songstress Claudia Villela. After being awarded an impressive scholarship and studying voice at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, she returned to Texas and graduated from the world-renowned jazz studies program at the University of North Texas.

Jennifer received a Master’s degree in jazz pedagogy from UNT, where she directed a vocal jazz ensemble, taught a course in vocal fundamentals, and sang in the award-winning UNT Jazz Singers. She had the honor of studying under internationally acclaimed vocal jazz arranger and educator Paris Rutherford and private jazz voice with noted recording artist, improviser, and composer Rosana Eckert. In 2018, Jennifer earned a Master’s degree in music therapy from TWU. She actively performed live in the Dallas area until 2019, when she welcomed her second child.

From 2019-2022, Jennifer taught elementary music at Pinkerton Elementary in Coppell. There, she developed and taught engaging music curriculum for grades K-5, directed an annual music performance for each grade level, built a choir program with 100 members, and established a marimba band of 30 students. Today, Jennifer focuses on performing in more intimate solo and duet settings and teaching private lessons in piano, guitar, voice, and ukulele. She is multifaceted and creative in her teaching approach, with a passion for helping her students grow through music education, practice across various styles, and performance opportunities.
