Jason is a piano and voice teacher from Colorado. His musical training commenced just as they do at Lessons in Your Home—under the care of a kind, invested piano teacher in the community. Slowly but surely, Jason and his brother learned together, sometimes collaborating and sometimes competing, as the pages of notes, rhythms, and dynamics progressively brought forth a living and enduring world of gorgeous Mozart, Chopin, and Beethoven.
Along the way, through playing and singing at church, Jason learned that melodies do not just stay confined in one’s basement studio; rather, they overflow, develop, and give, becoming a very part of who you are. He studied with local jazz and classical pianist Kent Jones during highschool and then studied piano and sang in several choirs during college, while concurrently pursuing his passion for education in various areas.
In 2008, Jason started studying voice with professional opera singer Beverly Fernald, satisfying a deep passion to develop in a new and exciting field of music. As a life-long learner, performer and teacher, he continues singing, directing, arranging, performing, and instructing with musical groups at his church.
Jason teaches an eclectic approach to beginning and intermediate piano, incorporating all styles; in later stages of musical coaching, he leans toward classical repertoire but also includes some practical approaches to improvisation. As a vocal coach, Jason builds a strong foundation in healthy musical and vocal development that undergirds all styles; as a vocal guide, Jason leans toward classical, pop, and sacred repertoire.
