Teacher Profile: Jared Atwood

About Jared Atwood

Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Jared Atwood is a full time recording engineer, drummer, and guitar player. A lover of multiple genres of music, he believes music is a communication tool which can break the usual barriers of language and culture. Jared graduated from Full Sail University in 2021 with his Bachelor’s in Recording Technologies and was hired as a student tutor while achieving the salutatorian award of his class. He has also studied in masterclasses hosted by Full Sail’s Hall of Fame week hosted by professional music producers, recording engineers and successful entertainment industry individuals.

At a young age, Jared began taking lessons as a guitarist and performed in his high school’s jazz band, and chamber ensemble. He also performed in his elementary, middle, and high school’s band as a percussionist, specifically snare and bass drum. As a bass drummer and snare drum player in the high school’s drumline, he was granted the opportunity to travel all over the United States performing in various parades, contests and halftime shows. Performing in Disney parades, competitions at Syracuse Carrier Dome, and concerts at Kleinhans Music Hall are some of Jared’s most fond performance memories.

Studying recording techniques, critical listening, and sound design equipped his ear for music performance. After graduation, he joined a local recording studio to practice and craft his skills and tutor college students in one on one sessions through virtual and in person instruction. During his time at the studio, Jaica Creative, Jared has had the opportunity to teach a class of interns who would later be hired as full time engineers alongside him.

Teaching guitar lessons is a passion of his outside of studio recording. After being granted a position as a student, he found it positively overwhelming to see students enjoy learning a new skill and enjoy practicing. Jared actively pursues other interests such as exercise, hiking, investing, reading and song writing. He has produced music for multiple brands online in the NFT space for commercials, advertisements and theme songs. Jared’s life has revolved around music and hopes to see those around him become involved in it as well through education, teaching and joyful learning.
