    About Jacob Malone-Brancato

Originally from Buffalo, New York, Jake Malone-Brancato is an active member, composer, and educator in the Denver music community playing a variety of jazz, pop, and classical piano professionally. He is a graduate of The State University of New York at Buffalo, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2014. Jake has experience teaching and leading adaptive lessons for adult and young students with disabilities.

At the University at Buffalo, Jake was a member of UB’s Jazz Big Band and Jazz Combo ensembles where he played both piano and trumpet. He studied under the direction of local jazz greats Dave Schiavone, Bobby Militello (Dave Brubeck Quartet), and George Caldwell (Count Basie Orchestra). He has also studied piano privately with his father, Joe Brancato, since the age of 6. He was nominated for Rising Star and Best Jazz Piano awards in JazzBuffalo’s annual musician’s poll from 2017-2021. Jake has performed on multiple stages including the Northwest Jazz Festival and Colored Musicians Club Festival.

When not teaching or performing, Jake spends time composing original music for himself and for a quintet called the Jay/Sharp-Tet. Their debut album was released in May of 2022 and contains some of Jake’s original compositions.

Jake’s mission and passion is to instill a love of music in students of all skill levels and ages. He believes that whoever is interested in learning music, should have the ability and access to achieve this special experience.
