Idalberto Perdomo was born and raised in Habana, Cuba and began his love for drums and percussion when he was a child. He studied at different prestigious schools of music where he majored in Drums and Percussion. At the young age of 21 he started his professional carrier recording and touring with well known Cuban artists both inside and outside of the country.
He preformed shows in places like El Tropicana Night Club, The Capri Hotel, and many others while continuing his drum and percussion studies at Escuela de Superacion Professional “Ignacio Cervantes” as well as taking private lessons from prestigious world wide known artists like Enrique Pla, and “Changito” (Jose Luis Quintana). In January of 1993 he relocates to the United States of America where he begins teaching drums and percussion to beginners to advanced students, including professionals, and performs and records with several artists like Xavier Cugat Big Band Hall of Fame, No Regrets (X-members of Miami Sound Machine), The
Gipsy Kings, Jazz Legend Paquito de Rivera, Afro Cuban All Stars, and more. He participated in recording sessions with musicians that formed part of the Gladys Knight’s Band as well as Gary Puckett and The Union Gap.
He also performed in shows in Las Vegas and other parts of the country. In 2010 after a successful audition he was listed in the Cirque Du Soleil’s Bank of Talent, and performed with Ryan Shaw (Grammy nominated funk and R&B singer). Perdomo says, “Technique should be in function of the groove not the other way around”. “One of my greatest joys is witnessing when the student finds their passion for their musical instrument.
