Hunter Klotz is a violist, violinist, guitarist, and songwriter, with a passion for music and the arts that he is excited to share with others. Beginning at age 8 on viola, and 12 on violin, Hunter has over 15 years of performance and musical experience. His first exposure to music was his uncle’s grand piano, which inspired him to teach himself piano, and later join his school’s beginning orchestra program. Over the years, he has studied with multiple world class musicians, including Elizabeth Pitcairn and Eliezer Guzman. He has experience in many musical styles, such as jazz, electronic music, folk, and musical theater. Hunter is currently a Viola Performance major at the University of Puget Sound, studying under Joyce Ramee, a prolific and skilled violist in the Seattle area. He is currently the co-principal violist at the Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra.
Hunter believes in an interdisciplinary approach to music and art in general. Other art forms, such as dance, theater, and more, can teach us musicians a lot about how we think about storytelling and art. He learned a lot from his experience in jazz dance and acting that he has been able to apply to his toolbox as a musician. He has experience teaching violin, piano, and strings in Southern California at schools such as Dream Music Studios and Westlake Music Academy.
Hunter hopes to use his degree and experience as a musician to bring unique ideas to the musical world, and use his skill on his instrument to shake up the established classical music world, and bring more voices and ideas to the field that have been previously shunned.
