Gary Woolsey is a guitar instructor with a rich musical journey that started in 1999. His passion for guitar began with acoustic melodies and has since evolved into a dynamic exploration of electric guitar techniques. Throughout his career, Gary has committed himself to not only mastering his craft but also sharing his knowledge and love for music with aspiring guitarists.
Gary has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from the University of Washington. Gary's early years were filled with the warm, resonant tones of acoustic guitar. His dedication to the instrument led him to study under esteemed mentors such as Mike Keaney, Earl Wood, and Andrew Baron. Each of these influential teachers contributed to shaping Gary's technical skills and artistic expression, providing him with a diverse musical foundation that blends classic acoustic sensibilities with modern electric prowess.
As his expertise grew, Gary transitioned to electric guitar, embracing the genre's complexity and versatility. His experience spans a wide range of styles, from blues and rock to pop and punk, allowing him to offer a comprehensive and tailored learning experience for his students.
Gary's teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of both technical proficiency and creative exploration. In addition to his teaching, Gary is an active performer. He plays guitar and sings in a pop punk/emo cover band called I Scream Social. He recently performed with the band at Porchfest in Tacoma.
