    About Gabriela Garza

    Gabriela Garza (she/her/ella) is a musician, conductor, percussionist and arts administrator currently living in Seattle, WA. She was born and raised in Monterrey Mexico, and in 2011, she moved to the United States to pursue studies in music. Gabriela holds a Bachelor’s degree in Percussion Performance and a Masters Degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of New Mexico. Additionally, she is currently working to complete her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Washington.

    Gabriela has conducted multiple orchestras across Washington state, the United States, and abroad. As a musician, she has performed with a wide array of artists and different ensembles, including orchestra, band, percussion ensembles, modern music ensemble, Latin & pop music bands and live film sound projects.

    On her third year on staff at the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra (SYSO), Gabriela is the Director of the Seattle Conservatory of Music.

    She has led and guest conducted multiple orchestras and summer programs at SYSO, including the Junior Symphony Orchestra, the Debut Symphony Orchestra, SYSO Summer Music and Marrowstone Music Festival.

    In her spare time, Gabriela enjoys spending time with her pup, Zoey, kayaking and taking long walks.
