Ernesto is a talented musician and an enthusiastic and dedicated music teacher who leads courses for students of all ages and interests. He plays and teaches a wide variety of genres and styles. A versatile multi-instrumentalist, proficient in piano, voice, and percussion instruments (drums, Latin instruments, glockenspiel, marimba) with solid knowledge in theory, harmony, sight-reading, counterpoint, and western canon history. Ernesto possesses clear communication skills in English and Spanish with an advanced understanding of elementary, intermediate, and university-level standards and effective teaching strategies.
Ernesto holds a degree in percussion instruments and a Bachelor of Music Education major in piano and conducting. He graduated with honors: Summa cum laude, Artist of excellence, and golden title from the University of the Arts of Cuba. He won a scholarship to Georgia State University as a graduate assistant and is completing his Master of Music in Conducting, awarded in December 2022.
In addition to more than ten years of professional experience as a music teacher, Ernesto has had a very active performer life. He has made concert tours of Florida, Colorado, California, Massachusetts, New York, Washington D.C., North Carolina, Illinois, and Cuba. He has worked with Andrea Bocelli, Orbert Devis, Paulinho da Costa, Jeff Marx, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, and the National Philharmonic of Cuba, among many other renowned artists and groups.
