Erich Zheng began his studies in piano when he was just 6 years old. His love for music continued to increase over the years, and in high school he decided to pursue a formal music education after attending the North Carolina School of the Arts. Receiving a full scholarship for musical merit, Erich continued his musical education at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance.
It was at Vanderbilt that Erich discovered his passion for teaching. Throughout his undergraduate studies, Erich refined the skills he acquired in his piano pedagogy courses by teaching private piano lessons, both throughout the school year and during the summer. By the time he graduated, he had taught over a dozen students of diverse skill and age groups, and had developed the skills and experience he needed to pursue a career as a music teacher. Before moving to Seattle, Erich enjoyed teaching in-home music lessons in his hometown of Cary, NC.
