About Deonte Mclean
Deonte McLean is excited to join Lessons In Your Home, bringing a lifelong passion for music, performance, and education. His musical journey began at age three with piano lessons and participation in his church's children's choir. He later developed his leadership skills by serving in his middle school choir and directing his high school's gospel choir.
As his love for music grew, Deonte expanded his musicianship by learning several instruments, including saxophone, trumpet, and bass. He earned a degree in Music Performance with a concentration in piano and a minor in pipe organ from Bridgewater College.
During his time at Bridgewater, he served as the inaugural president of the Gospel Choir Club and directed the men's a cappella group during his senior year. He also served as the pianist for the Bridgewater College Jazz band and jazz combo ensembles, as well as the tenor sax player for the introductory jazz band at the college as well.
Upon graduation, Deonte served as an elementary music teacher and transitioned to a middle school band and choir teacher, building positive, long-lasting relationships with students and parents alike.
Deonte reminds parents and students that it is about the journey over the destination. Growth will begin from day one as you stick with it. Deonte looks forward to sharing his musical knowledge, diverse performance experience, and enthusiasm with students as they build confidence, develop their skills, and discover their own love of music.
