Denasia "DeeDee" Reavis is a passionate and dedicated Piano teacher with a deep-rooted love for music and over ten years of experience in Music Education. With a strong foundation in Classical Piano, Flute, and Music Theory, DeeDee brings a wealth of knowledge and creativity to each lesson, inspiring students of all ages and skill levels to reach their full musical potential.
Currently, a general Music teacher in two elementary schools, DeeDee leads music education initiatives and creates performance opportunities for students, helping them develop a lifelong appreciation for music. In addition to her leadership role, DeeDee adapts the music curriculum to meet the unique needs of each student, fostering both individual and group instruction. Her approach is student-centered, ensuring that each lesson is engaging, educational, and tailored to the student's goals and abilities.
In the private lesson setting for Classical Piano students, DeeDee works with all ages (5 years old through adult!) and emphasizes technique, musical expression, and theory through her instruction. Her goal is to guide students through a carefully curated repertoire that spans different genres and time periods. Her favorite methods to incorporate include Faber's Piano Adventures, selections from the Alfred method, and supplemental material for technique and theory, like "Dozen a Day" by Edna Mae-Burnam.
The most important takeaway DeeDee hopes students gain from her lessons is to have fun! She believes students enjoy music study when they feel confident in their playing. Learning the language of music and theory from the beginning, as well as proper form and technique, have a big impact on the overall experience.
Whether preparing students for performances, competitions, or simply cultivating a love for playing, DeeDee strives to create a positive and motivating environment in which students can thrive.
