David Lescalleet IV is a dedicated and experienced musician with a lifelong love for music. He began playing the cello at just four years old and has been growing in his passion ever since. Originally from Texas, David started college at the age of sixteen, where he studied classical music and began to build his career as both a performer and educator.
Throughout his training, David has studied with several well-respected teachers and cellists, including Susan Sturman, Nikola Ružević, and Wendy Warner. He holds degrees in both music education and performance and recently completed his master’s degree while also serving as a graduate assistant. Along the way, he’s won multiple music competitions and performed with orchestras across the country, including the San Angelo Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic, and University of North Texas Symphony.
Though classically trained, David’s experience goes well beyond traditional orchestral music. For over eight years, he’s collaborated with studios and musicians across many different styles—from jazz and rock to folk, bluegrass, and even hip-hop. This wide range of musical interests allows him to connect with students no matter what kind of music they love.
As a teacher, David is known for his thoughtful, encouraging approach. He’s passionate about helping students build solid technique while also making room for creativity and fun. Whether working with beginners or more advanced players, he focuses on creating a supportive learning environment where each student can grow at their own pace.
When he’s not teaching or performing, David enjoys composing, arranging music, and finding new ways to bring his passions into different musical styles.
