Chris has been a part of the music business most of his life both performing and teaching guitar professionally in the Atlanta area for over 30 years.
Chris grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California in the 60’s and early 70’s. He got his first guitar at age 12 and immediately began taking lessons. Chris soon realized that not only did he have an affinity for the guitar but also a natural aptitude on the instrument. It wasn’t long before he found himself immersed in the vibrant music community that surrounded him.
After High School, Chris moved with his family to Atlanta. It was during this time that he found that he was drawn to Jazz and decided to pursue music as a vocation. Chris enrolled in music courses at Georgia Perimeter College where under the tutelage of some world-class musicians, he begin to develop a solid music foundation consisting of what Chris refers to as, practical music theory and harmony. Over the years, Chris has performed in many venues in the Atlanta area with various musicians playing in many different formats from trios to big bands, as well as, leading his own bands.
Teaching is also been a huge part of Chris’ musical journey and something that he finds extremely gratifying and rewarding.
Rather then a cookie cutter one size fits all approach to teaching, Chris’ greatest strength as a teacher is his ability to assess how each student learns individually, and develops a creative learning path that suits their personal learning aptitude and motivates them to move forward.
Although his main musical interest is Jazz, Chris is versatile in music most styles of music. These elements combined with many years of performance and teaching allows Chris to offer a well-rounded learning experience to each student.
