    About Chip Erickson

Music has been a lifelong passion for Chip, nurtured by a musical family and hearing his first Beatles song at age 5. The piano has always been his primary instrument but he also enjoys playing guitar, singing, bass, ukulele, mandolin, mountain dulcimer and many others. Chip listens to and plays a variety of musical styles including rock, classical, jazz, reggae, funk/R&B and bluegrass/Americana.

Chip’s journey on the piano began at age 7; he was eager to start lessons and as a result progressed rapidly. His piano studies continued for the next 12 years, the last 3 of which were with noted PNW composer and former Cornish Music School Director Lockrem Johnson. He played in his first rock band at age 12 and has enjoyed a variety of musical collaborations ever since, performing at dances, parties, festivals, clubs and even a 9 year regular solo piano engagement at a shopping mall! In 2016, Chip decided it was time to give back. Armed with a wealth of experience and a heart full of passion, he stepped into the role of a piano teacher. His teaching philosophy is simple: music is a language, and every student has a unique voice waiting to be discovered.

Chip and his wife Char live in Shoreline, WA where he grew up and where they raised their family. Lessons In Your Home provides a perfect opportunity for Chip to share his love and knowledge of music and his prime objective is to help create the same passion for music in his students that he has and continues to experience.
