About Belinda Campos
Belinda Campos is a dedicated piano educator teaching students of all ages in different capacities. Holding a Bachelor's degree from William Paterson University in Music Education, she has taught music in public schools since 1992 in the position of Director of Music and Coordinator of Music activities throughout the district. Born in Colombia, and coming here as a young child, Belinda was impacted by the musical atmosphere in her family where everyone either played an instrument or sang or danced to the sounds of Colombian songs and Spanish rhythms.
Throughout her professional life as a musician she has participated in solo recitals, ensemble participation, music festivals and masterclasses. Belinda who also inherited a love of singing, was part of the prestigious University Singers from Fullerton, CA, under the direction of the late, David Thorsen.
Belinda considers herself an educator first and foremost and feels fortunate to have been able to impact so many children with her dedication to music for many years. She has taught children music, dance, theory and performance in grades PreK through high school. She prepared her students for competitions and was the director of shows such as "Fiddler on the Roof", "Hello, Dolly" and "Music Man". She has taught piano to children from ages 5 and up and some beginner/intermediate adults who wanted to connect again to their love of music.
As a pianist, scholar and educator, Belinda has a student-centered teaching philosophy. She believes that the child's success depends on a one on one personally tailored program that takes into account the goals and abilities of each student she is privileged to teach. Each child brings their own love and personality to each lesson, and she enjoys drawing out the best in her students. Belinda likes to share with her students the difference that learning an instrument has made in her life and she wishes to share that experience with them and their future connections with learning the piano and developing themselves as future lovers of music.
