    About Aryn Kent

Aryn Kent is a lifelong learner of piano and violin as a means of finding joy in the experience of music. She taught herself piano until the age of nine, then started formal piano lessons with Janice Hampton. The same year, she started violin lessons through the school orchestra. As Aryn progressed in piano, she studied under Larisa Smirnova. Larisa is a professional performer and teacher, with a master’s degree in Piano and Harp Performance and Piano Pedagogy from the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts.

Through her teenage years, Aryn was in her high school orchestra and a local youth symphonic orchestra. As a senior, she was a violin section leader and concert master of the orchestra.

In college, she performed on piano with various churches and their choirs, children’s choirs, and solo performances. She also took some continued piano lessons through the university.

As an adult, Aryn continued to take lessons under Vincent Yang. Vincent Yang obtained his Doctorate of Musical Arts under the tutelage of Tamas Ungar at Texas Christian University, and is an experienced professional performer and teacher. Vincent is also tutoring Aryn in Piano Pedagogy as she transitions into teaching.

Aryn has experience in tutoring and childcare. She hopes to share her love of music with the next generation and to help children develop a lifelong relationship with music. She believes that music lessons should be a source of both education and joy - not stressful for either the parents or the children.
