    About Alexandra Fitzgerald

    Alexandra Fitzgerald is a concert Violinist and Violin, Viola, and Piano teacher based in Maryland. Her own journey with Violin began at age 4. As a 12 year old, she began music studies at Mannes PreCollege, and at age 15, she continued studies at the Hartt School of Music PreCollege.

    In high school, Alexandra was very involved in the music program. She was a featured soloist in the Marching Band. Her senior year, she played in the new String Ensemble and guest conducted the Symphonic Band. She won 3 National School Orchestra Awards and a CAS Arts Award for excellence in music and academics. She was also a member of the Music Honor Society.

    Alexandra graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UNC Charlotte, where she studied Violin Performance with David Russell. She also majored in Spanish. She is continuing violin studies at the University of Maryland with Irina Muresanu, also serving as her teaching assistant. Russell and Muresanu have been her greatest mentors, and she hopes to one day be a beloved pedagogue like them. She wants to make a positive impact on the learning experience of her students.

    Alexandra works with students of all ages for Violin, Viola, and Piano lessons and has worked in both the in person and virtual settings. She believes in infusing the personality of each student into her lessons, and she has found a lot of success with this approach. She cares about all aspects of her students’ lives, and she centers her efforts around that sense of student individuality. Her ultimate goal is for her students to play with confidence, passion, and happiness that is gained from their study and love of music. To help them on their path, Alexandra believes in leading with compassion, humor, and honesty.

    Alexandra immerses herself in a plethora of musical styles, namely jazz, mariachi, Bollywood, easy listening, and bluegrass. She also enjoys playing authentic Irish fiddle tunes. She speaks fluent Spanish, and she enjoys researching and performing different types of Latin American, Iberian, and Brazilian music.
