Alex McConnell, a native of Chesapeake, Virginia, has been playing violin since age ten. He is a senior music education major who is currently a student of Dr. Elizabeth Adams. He has previously studied with Jennifer Kim, and Dr. Laura Kobayashi. Due to his passion for education, Alex has immersed himself into the field. He is a substitute teacher for Chesapeake Public Schools and Fairfax County Public Schools. He is the sole orchestral Teacher Scholar from George Mason University selected by the Potomac Arts Academy. He works with children at Woodburn Elementary School in after-school lessons and sectionals. Alex is in his final year and is planning to begin his Student Teaching Internship in January with an expected graduation date of May, 2015. Post graduation, Alex plans on being a high school orchestra director in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
