Aiden Brown is a Washington, D.C. Area based Music Educator, who works with Viola, Violin, and Piano students of all ages. He is an enthusiastic teacher who emphasizes positive instruction and building the esteem of his students through music.
Aiden started studying the Viola at age 9 after being introduced to the instrument his step-sister had noted as “peculiar.” Ever since then, he’s been inseparable from it and has a great passion for Viola and Strings study. Aiden has performed master chamber works by Dvorak, soloed on Bach, Schubert, Rebecca Clarke, been part of Stravinsky ensembles, and has had a number of other, memorable performance experiences as part of his journey with Viola.
Aiden's passion for Viola is based in his own experience with the instrument and how it first evoked a feeling peace and beauty out of life when practicing and performing. He has enjoyed the routine of his study and how it has enriched his life, as well as the experience of performing, and his goal is to share that gift with others.
In High School and College, Aiden studied with John Paul Tobin of Pennsylvania and Haleigh Vance of Maryland. During college, he first started teaching Viola and Violin lessons along with his own studies and pursued as many musical opportunities as possible. He was the president of his college orchestra, never missed an opportunity to perform with the band and choir, helped found the Lycoming College String Quartet, and proudly dedicated extra time volunteering with the Young Artist Baroque Orchestra.
An avid performer, Aiden currently leads the Viola section of the Cosmic Symphony. He is known to be a team player and understands the value of bringing your best qualities to the table to make a diverse group work in harmony.
As an educator, Aiden teaches both Instrumental Music (Viola, Violin, and Piano) and Special Education in different settings. He believes that every student who wants to learn music, or has a passion for music, can absolutely achieve their goals, and he strives to be part of their success. With patience and learning how to practice, anyone can boost their music skills. In addition to private instrumental lessons, Aiden is also a composer and arranger. No matter what a student wants to play, he can make a "favorite piece" accessible so that his student learn the repertoire they want!
Aiden throughly believes music is healing, not just for the musician, but to an audience. Through his lessons he hopes his students feel grounded and proud of their accomplishments. His goal is to foster the passion of his students and allow them to keep believing in the power of practice. Learning how to practice correctly was Aiden’s biggest hurdle, but once he jumped it, a world of opportunity opened. Through his own journey, he has learned that there is no such thing as a failed goal, just a modified one - goals are flexible! This feeling of positivity and growing a student's self esteem through music is vital to Aiden's approach, and he brings his own experiences and personalization to all students he works with.
Outside of music, Aiden is a poet and author, reader, owner of many pets, teacher, and maker of handmade gifts.
