Why You Shouldn’t Take Music Lessons with Lessons In Your Home

At Lessons In Your Home, we believe music lessons should be fun, rewarding, and—most importantly—convenient. But let’s be real: we’re not for everyone. In fact, if any of the following sound like you, you definitely shouldn’t sign up for lessons with us.

1. You Don’t Want Music Lessons in Your Home

We bring high-quality music instruction right to your door. No packing up, no traffic, no waiting in a lobby—just personalized, one-on-one lessons in the comfort of your home. But if you prefer driving across town, sitting in a waiting room, or listening to someone else’s child plunk away at a piano while you wait, we’re probably not the right fit.

2. You Can’t Commit to a Weekly Lesson Time

Our lessons are scheduled at the same time, on the same day, with the same teacher every week. It’s how we create consistency and real progress for our students. But if you’d rather schedule on a whim, or frequently cancel, we might not be the best choice. We’re all about steady progress, and that starts with a regular lesson time!

3. You Prefer Harsh Criticism Over Positive Reinforcement

Our teachers build confidence and skills through encouragement and positive reinforcement. We don’t shame students for missing a practice session or struggling with a piece. Instead, we guide them toward improvement in a supportive, uplifting way. But if you believe learning should be filled with stern lectures and guilt trips, you might want to look elsewhere.

4. You Love Sitting in Traffic

Our in-home lessons save families an average of 1.25 hours a week. That’s time you could spend relaxing, eating dinner together, or doing literally anything other than sitting in traffic. But hey, if you enjoy watching brake lights and listening to honking horns instead of your child’s music, a traditional studio might be a better option for you!

5. You Never Want to Perform

Our students have the opportunity to perform at least twice a year in recitals and other performance events. These aren’t high-pressure, nerve-wracking experiences—they’re fun, celebratory moments for students to share what they’ve learned. If the idea of performing—even in a supportive, friendly environment—makes you shudder, then you might not enjoy our program.

So, Should You Take Lessons with Us?

If you prefer inflexible scheduling, stressful commutes, and discouraging teaching methods, then no, Lessons In Your Home probably isn’t for you.

But if you love convenience, consistency, encouragement, and performance opportunities, then we’d love to help you or your child learn an instrument!
