We are thrilled to announce the winner of the Lessons In Your Home Scholarship for 2023, Annalysse Miller! This year’s selection was overwhelming, with many talented students vying for the scholarship. Annalysse’s unique blend of passion, talent, and dedication to music set her apart.
A Journey in Music
Annalysse’s journey in music began at a young age, growing up in a church where she eagerly joined the kids’ choir. Despite none of her family being particularly musical, she was drawn to the world of melody and rhythm. From voice lessons to musical summer camps, her elementary years were filled with all things musical.
Her love for music continued to blossom as she reached middle school, where she played the trombone and sang in the choir. As she grew older, her youth minister recognized her singing talent, leading her to write and perform her own music.
In high school, Annalysse devoted herself to choir and church music, leading and participating in multiple school and church choirs. Now, as a worship studies major in college, she is actively preparing to work in music for the rest of her life.
Music as a Universal Language
Annalysse’s essay beautifully captures her belief in the power of music. She writes, “I can confidently say that the world needs music like it needs oxygen.” For her, music is a means to understand emotions, a healing force, and a way to communicate across different cultures.
She eloquently expresses how music has been a valuable part of her life, helping her feel less alone and providing comfort in times of heartache, happiness, and loneliness. Her words resonate with many of us, reminding us of the universal language that music speaksl
Congratulations, Annalysse!
