From the first notes of her musical journey to her innovative approach in the studio, Angel has embraced every opportunity to make a difference through teaching. Like many exceptional teachers, her path to Lessons In Your Home was shaped by both personal and professional experiences, all of them contributing to the passion she brings to her students today.
Angel’s introduction to piano was as unique as it was inspiring. Growing up, formal music lessons seemed out of reach, but a kind music teacher who was a friend of her grandparents offered to teach her for free. That generosity changed everything, opening the door to a lifelong love of music. It’s a story that fuels her mission to create meaningful connections with her students today.
“I want my students to feel supported and inspired, just like I did when I first started,” Angel says. Her teaching philosophy reflects that sentiment, prioritizing a personal touch and a supportive environment that makes music accessible and enjoyable. She listens carefully to her students, shaping lessons to meet their individual needs and goals. While method books provide structure, Angel enhances the experience with fun and engaging activities, often incorporating songs her students love from movies, cartoons, or pop culture.
For Angel, one of the biggest challenges is balancing curriculum requirements with what students genuinely want to learn. “It’s about finding that happy medium.” The rewards far outweigh the challenges. Angel lights up when she talks about those breakthrough moments. “When a student finally gets a concept they’ve been struggling with, it’s the best feeling,” she says.
While music is a central part of Angel’s life, her creativity extends beyond the piano. She runs a jewelry business, crafting resin pieces. You can find her Etsy shop here. Her varied interests and experiences bring a well-rounded perspective to her teaching, showing students that artistry comes in many forms.
When asked what advice she would give to newer teachers, she talked about how many of us deal with Imposter Syndrome when first starting out. She gave the following advice that helped her get over that feeling: “You belong here. If you’ve learned something about your instrument, you’re qualified to teach it. Trust yourself.”
Angel’s dedication and personal approach make her an irreplaceable part of the Lessons In Your Home family. Whether she’s celebrating a student’s small victories or helping them tackle a big challenge, Angel embodies the passion and joy that make music education so special.
