TJ Primer, baritone, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with concentrations in vocal and general music from Georgia State University in 2019 as a Mable and Haskell Boyter Choral Scholar. His performance experience includes over 15 years of church choir, two of which he served as a pianist and worship leader at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, GA and a paid choral scholar at Druid Hills Presbyterian Church in Atlanta.
TJ has over 10 years of choral singing experience, including Reinhardt University’s Concert Choir and Georgia State University’s University Singers. He has performed David Bentley’s Carmina Burana at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre with the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra and served as a crew member in GSU’s, Don Giovanni. In 2016, TJ received third place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) vocal competition in the Third Year College/Independent Studio Men’s Division.
Aside from performing, TJ has been active in some of Atlanta’s most well-known non-profit organizations. During the summers of 2017 and 2018, he served as a teaching fellow for Breakthrough Atlanta, teaching seventh grade math and eighth grade science. He briefly served as a site assistant for the Atlanta Music Project during the spring of 2017. He has also been active as a mentor in Big Brother and Big Sister of Metro Atlanta.
TJ currently serves as the chorus teacher at Floyd Middle School in Mableton, GA. He relishes every opportunity to teach new students of all ages and instill a passion for music and vocal performance.
