Soon-Mi Lim is a Piano and Voice teacher based in Northern Virginia. Born into a musical family, Soon-Mi has been surrounded by the world of music from an early age. Her mother, a talented pianist, and her father, a respected conductor, instilled in her a deep love for music. Soon-Mi began playing the piano at the age of three, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion and career in music.
With over 25 years of experience in music education, Soon-Mi is a dedicated and accomplished piano teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano performance from Seoul South Korea, a Diploma of Arts in Piano Performance from the Liszt Conservatory of Music in Budapest, and has pursued advanced studies at West Chester University.
Her extensive career spans both the United States and South Korea, where she has made significant contributions to music education and performance. She served as Director of a Music Academy in Fairfax for many years, and Soon-Mi led efforts in curriculum innovation and academic excellence. She has also played key roles in church communities, serving as a church organist, pianist, and music director.
Throughout her career, Soon-Mi has had the privilege of guiding many students to success in piano competitions, helping them not only excel but also develop a genuine love for music. Her students consistently find joy in both learning and performing, a testament to her engaging and supportive teaching style.
Soon-Mi is known for their outgoing and friendly demeanor, making them a positive role model and mentor to students of all ages. Their extensive performance background includes participation in prestigious events such as the Liszt Summer Music Festival and numerous piano recitals. Whether leading a choir, directing a school, or teaching individual piano lessons, Soon-Mi brings a blend of technical expertise and heartfelt passion to every aspect of their work.
