    About Rachel Reyes

    Rachel Reyes is an active performer and teacher residing in Seattle, WA. Recently, Reyes won first place at the Arizona Flute Society 2022 Graduate/Professional Competition and was selected as a winner for the 2022 Jacqueline Avent Concerto Competition. Rachel spent the summer serving as a flute fellow for the 2022 Sewanee Summer Music Festival in Tennessee where she performed with the Sewanee Symphony and as part of the Advanced Chamber Music Series. In 2021, she performed at the Brevard Music Institute in North Carolina as part of the Brevard Music Center Orchestra and New Music Quintet. Previously, Rachel was a featured soloist with Professor Donna Shin and the University of Washington Wind Ensemble at the 2020 PNW Band Festival. In addition, she was awarded a fellowship position and performed in the Faculty Artist Concert Series at the 2019 Sewanee Summer Music Festival and was a featured performer at the 2018 ARIA International Summer Music Academy in Massachusetts.

    Alongside her national performances, Rachel was invited to perform and teach masterclasses as principal of the University of Washington Wind Ensemble on their performance tour of China in 2019. Rachel graduated with a Bachelor of Music Performance degree and studied with Professor Donna Shin at the University of Washington (UW). At UW, she also performed with the university’s top ensembles. She received a Master of Music degree at Arizona State University (ASU) studying with Dr. Elizabeth Buck. At ASU, she performed with the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Studio Orchestra, and Contemporary Modern Ensemble. She is returning to her alma mater University of Washington to continue studying with Donna Shin and serve as a graduate teaching assistant.

    Equally important as performing, Reyes has a heart and passion for teaching and sharing her love of music with others. She began teaching in 2015 and guides students of all ages and experience levels in flute, piano, and theory studies. Her students have participated in the AMEA All-State Honor Bands and Snohomish County Honor Bands as well as placing in the Arizona Flute Society Junior and Senior Competitions. Outside of music, she enjoys growing her indoor urban jungle.
