From an early age, pianist Payam Vakili has been surrounded by and involved with music. At age 7, he began his musical journey learning the saxophone, and a few years later went on to perform in the Beckendorff Junior High Honor Band. After middle school, however, he decided to switch to the piano to pursue an education in classical music. At that time, he met his mentor, Professor Dr. Farzad Nowshad.
With Dr. Nowshad's help, Payam has studied all aspects of piano technique, performance, and repertoire. He has performed in numerous recitals, including a recent highlight performance of Liszt/Paganini's "La Campanella". Payam has also begun to dive into the world of teaching and music education. He has taught students of all ages and abilities and understands that teaching is not a one-size-fits-all formula. Payam's goal as a teacher is to make lessons fun and interesting, while also maintaining a goal-centered approach to learning.
Payam has a Bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Houston, and he is pursuing a second degree in engineering. Payam looks forward to continuing to share the love of music with others while continuing to learn as much as he can in all of his areas of interest.
