About Miles McKee
Miles began playing music at age 8 on piano and would continue to study until his Junior year of high school at around age 16. Miles began playing clarinet in the 5th grade, and went on to perform in the South Dakota Middle School All State Band, and attended the Wyoming All State Band all four years of high school on clarinet. Freshman year he discovered the saxophone, and this instrument quickly became his focus. After playing occasionally outside of high school jazz band, Miles went on to study the saxophone at the University of Wyoming, Metropolitan State University, and Sheridan College where he obtained an Associates in Music with a Certification in Music Technology. He was also named a principal saxophonist at the Small College Intercollegiate Honor Band conference under the direction of Ray Cramer. At the the age of 19, Miles began performing professionally and has performed across the United States and Western Europe.
Currently, Miles resides in Denver playing with five groups full time and taking freelance gigs and teaching work. Miles loves to perform and teach all styles of music and all ability levels. His main focus in lessons is to nurture creativity, enthusiasm, and a lifelong love for music in his students, no matter the instrument or skill level.
