    About Michael Carswell

    Michael Carswell II has been playing saxophone since 5th grade when he choose the instrument in his first band class. It was almost as if it was meant to be, as his father, his mother, and his great grandfather played the saxophone. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to perform with the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony and the GSU Jazz Band and Jazz Combo. Within these groups, he has had the privilege to be invited to perform with Brian Hecht, Joe Alessi, Miguel Zenon, Mike Holober, Joe Gransden, Sean Jones, David Pastor, and Jeff “Tain” Watts. Along with performing music, Michael also has a deep passion for composing and arranging music. He has composed works in a number of genres spanning from jazz to classical and plans to pursue a graduate degree in Screen Scoring. He has had the pleasure to score a few indie films and hopes to score more in the future.

    On top of teaching privately, Michael has taught at Parkview and Rockdale County Highschool, working with their saxophone section in Marhcing Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band. He prides himself on his ability to connect with his students and find creative ways to help them grow as not only musicians, but as people.
