A native of Long Island, N.Y., Marylouise Senatore, who also goes by “Marylou”, has been an orchestra director, educator, conductor, and private music teacher for over 33 years with the Bay Shore School District and Brentwood School District in Long Island, New York. Marylou would say that teaching all these years wasn’t a job, but a passion that she got to share with many students of all ages. Despite the fact that she retired last year in New York, she still keeps the passion alive and looks forward to continuing her love of teaching.
Ms. Senatore’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree from the Crane School of Music, at Potsdam College, a Master’s of Science Degree in Music Education from Long Island University at C.W.Post, and she completed 33 credits towards a Master’s Degree in Conducting at Messiah College. She was actively involved in the SCMEA All County and LISFA Festivals, both as a Chairperson and Conductor. Throughput her career, Marylou was active as a performer in church as well as with many orchestras and string quartets. Ms. Senatore has taught many children of all ages through the years and has seen many of her students pursue professional careers in music. She has taught middle school orchestras, high school orchestras, chamber orchestra, and taught summer music lessons for over 30 years to students grades 4-12. She was also the Tri M Advisor for many years in both the high school and middle school chapters.
Marylou just relocated from Atlanta, GA., where she actively taught throughout Fulton County and performed in the Georgia Philharmonic. She is excited to have relocated to Washington to continue her teaching and performing. In addition to her music, she loves to run, play tennis, and continue her love for music.
