Magdalena Michniowska -Newman was born and raised in Poland. She started playing piano at the age of four, taking lessons from her aunt, professional pianist. Magdalena learned how to play piano before she learned how to read and write. She was enrolled in music school at the age of six. She has performed in Poland and Europe and won multiple piano competitions over her nineteen years as a student.
Early on, Magdalena developed a passion for theory of music, seeking a deeper understanding of how music works and is created. She has earned a Masters of Theory of Music and Composition from Stanislaw Moniuszko Adademy of Music in Gdansk, Poland with a Minor from Piano Pedagogy. After earning her degree, Magdalena moved to the United States in America where she started a family.
Magdalena believes that learning piano should be fun and incorporates music history into every lesson she teaches. She believes that learning how to play piano is like learning a new language where students use their fingers to speak.
Magdalenas teaches by having students continuously set achievable goals so they are always working towards progressing as piano players to meet their individual goals. She has over 20 years of experience teaching students in various states as New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, North Carolina, Nevada and Washington.
Magdalena loves animals. She has 4 dogs and during her free time she volunteers at local animal shelter.
Magdalena is also a published author of two books- "Normal- A Mother And Her Beautiful Son" and "Normal- One Kids Extraordinary Journey" which she coauthored with her son Nathaniel.
