    About Luis Pena Figueroa

    Chilean violinist and teacher of violin and viola, Luis Peña Figueroa began his musical studies at age 8. He performed as a soloist with the two most prestigious professional Orchestras in Chile; the Chile Symphony Orchestra and Concepcion Symphony Orchestra. In 2009, he obtained 1st place in the "5th National Violin Competition," organized by the Foundation of Youth and Children's Orchestras of Chile. Peña won a position to be part of prestigious International Festivals such as “Grupos Sonantes” in Uruguay, ‘’FEMUSC” in Brasil, “SSI” in USA, and for two consecutive years, ‘’Aspen Music Festival and School,’’ receiving lessons from Professor Paul Kantor and playing in the festival orchestra with prominent violinists like Gil Shaham and Joshua Bell.Peña was invited to play first violin in a string quartet at the “Quartet Fest,” an important Chamber Music Festival in Canada hosted by the Penderecki String Quartet. In 2019, he was selected by ‘’The Orchestra of the Americas’’ as the only Chilean violin player to represent the country in a tour in Mexico with guest soloist Gil Shaham. In 2022, Peña obtained his Artist Diploma from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University under the tutelage of professors Sergiu Schwartz and Boris Abramov.
