    About Linh Trinh An

Linh Trinh was born in Hanoi, Vietnam, and had her first music lesson at age four. At age six, she became a piano student at the Hanoi Conservatory, now renamed the Vietnam National Academy of Music. She was listed as one of the best piano students for academic achievement and received scholarships from the Academy for several years. Linh earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music with cum laude honors from St. Mary’s College of Maryland as a piano student of Brian Ganz. In the summer of 2014, Trinh performed at the Young Artist’s Recital of the Alba Music Festival in Italy. She also played as pianist in the world premiere of Giacomo Platini’s "Le notti di cristallo," a composition for symphonic orchestra, live electronics, and voice. In 2016, Linh premiered a work by Edward Knoeckel, Piano Reflection No. 1, at George Mason University.

Linh recently graduated from George Mason University with a Master’s of Music in piano performance. She is currently a Doctoral student in piano performance at George Mason University where she is privileged to study with Dr. Linda Apple Monson. She is the recipient of the Friends of Music Ruth Jacksier Scholarship Award, CVPA Graduate Scholarship Award, and Dr. Linda Apple Monson Music Endowment Award. Linh has been selected to perform in many important recitals and performances at George Mason University, including the Grand Piano Celebration 2015 and 2016, and Arts by George! She was selected to perform in the George Mason University School of Music Honors Recital 2016, and for the President of George Mason University, Dr. Ángel Cabrera, on many occasions. In 2016, she played in piano masterclasses by Peabody graduate Awadagin Pratt, and Leon Schelhase, a professor at Curtis Institute of Music. Linh also gives many performances at nursing homes around Virginia and Maryland, as she tries to bring Classical music closer to a larger audience, and to share this gift of life with as many people as possible.

Music education is also a very important pursuit to Linh, in addition to performance. She specializes in teaching Classical music, and enjoys the private lesson setting, so that she can focus on student’s ability with close attention and care. In her lessons, students are presented with an all-encompassing curriculum including music theory, history, technique, and the art of performance. With her rich experience in performing and auditioning, Linh also offers help to pre-college students who seeks out for hearing and helpful advice before going to auditions.

As a mark of her great success in the realm of teaching, several of Linh’s students have won prizes in competitions and have maintained the tradition of enjoying performing for other —whether just family members or a full audience! Her goal is to help students realize and succeed with the musical goals they set for themselves. Linh also works towards consistent improvement in her teaching by attending seminars and workshops for teachers to be able to offer the best instruction to her students. With great care and attentiveness to her students, Linh hopes to provide inspiration for every student with whom she works.
