Leonardo began his musical journey at the age of 10, discovering his passion for music through "The Grinch" soundtrack and Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik. Through his love for these two very different works of art, he knew that music education was his true calling. He honed his skills throughout middle school, high school, music conservatories, and private lessons, expanding his expertise by learning the violin. He earned an Associate of Arts in Music Education and is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree.
With over 16 years of experience working at a local strings shop, Leonardo has worked closely with educators across the Houston area. He has in-depth knowledge of musical instruments from this experience—including makes, models, repairs, and pricing. His expertise extends to managing orchestras of all sizes and skill levels, from beginner ensembles to advanced groups.
Leonardo is bilingual in Spanish and English, embracing and enjoying both cultures. "¿Listos para aprender?" Having spent part of his childhood in Mexico, he appreciates multiculturalism and the richness it brings to music and education. Leonardo is currently learning a third language- "Voce falar Portugues?" Beyond music, he enjoys soccer, fencing, and chess. Leo is also a proud dad, husband, and avid listener of classical music, with a strong appreciation for Beethoven, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, and Bartók. He believes that renowned musical directors like Gustavo Dudamel and Alondra de la Parra demonstrate that classical music is accessible to all. Since 2009, Leonardo has been dedicated to teaching violin and viola, inspiring his students and instilling in them a lifelong passion for music.
