Lea Sarkisov is a soprano vocalist, pianist, and singer-songwriter. She studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, in the studio of Vinson Cole and Dr. William Cotten. She also studied at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music in the studio of Cynthia Clayton.
Her performance credits include roles in operas such as Le Nozze di Figaro (Susanna), Die Zauberflöte (Pamina), Florencia en el Amazonas, and musicals such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Narrator), Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, The Phantom of the Opera, and Beauty and the Beast.
Lea was one among a select group picked to travel and perform with the University of Houston’s Concert Chorale at the acclaimed Llangollen Eisteddfod Competition in Wales, UK, under the instruction of choral director, Dr. Betsy Cook Weber. Traveling with the selected choir was Dr. Renu Khator, President of the University of Houston. One of the Llangollen Eisteddfod’s previous notables was tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who had performed in the past and endorsed its reputation as a place of musical accomplishment.
In high school, Lea placed first and second chair with the TMEA All-State Choir. She now teaches middle school and high school singers through the Solo and Ensemble competition process, TMEA choral auditions, and musical theater auditions. She teaches both voice and piano, and has experience teaching advanced students through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations. She also teaches toddlers and infants with the MusikGarten program, preparing young minds for lifelong music involvement. Helping her students advance and evolve to new levels is one of her greatest joys, and she is always excited to share the love of music with others.
