Katharine is a talented musician originally from Las Vegas. She teaches both cello and piano.
She began studying piano at the age of 6 and cello at the age of 11. She completed her Bachelor’s in Cello Performance from UNLV, where she won a prestigious citywide concerto competition, performed regularly in professional ensembles, and built up a small studio of cello and piano students. Katharine then went on to complete her Master’s in Cello Performance and her certification to teach Suzuki Cello Books 1-10 from the University of Denver before relocating to the DC Metro area.
Katharine teaches from the Suzuki philosophy of “Every Child Can,” believing that everyone has the capacity to develop technical skill and emotional connection to music. She combines a variety of outlooks and techniques within and without the Suzuki method to ensure that her students walk away from their lessons with their own unique understanding of music.
Her genuine concern above all else is that her students benefit as humans through their musical experiences.
