About James Woolwine
James Woolwine is an award-winning guitarist and pianist, who graduated cum laude from Berklee College of Music. With a philosophy of "Teach students what they want, while instilling the fundamentals they need", he strives to uphold a high standard of excellence; while keeping lessons rewarding and fun. James has taught pupils of all ages and ability levels. His friendly manner and patient explanations enable students to achieve their musical potential in a relaxed atmosphere. His other philosophy is "You can do it!" When not teaching, James is an active performer, composer, and songwriter.
Music has been his life-long passion. James started taking private piano lessons at the age of 7 and immersed himself in Classical music. By his high-school years he was winning awards and scholarships for his piano playing, but he was also losing interest in Classical music. He starting learning the guitar at the age of 16 to play Rock and Heavy Metal. Ultimately, those interests took over and he attended Berklee College of Music as a guitar major; despite having studied the instrument for only two years. James worked hard at Berklee, and graduated in 2004 with degrees in Performance and Music Business. Immediately after college he spent several years working in the corporate world. Ultimately, he realized the job security was not worth sacrificing the pursuit of his passion. James started teaching and performing music for a living in 2010 and has been doing so ever since.
