Teacher Profile: James Jeter

About James Jeter

Jimmy began playing music at the age 12 in the school band. He started with trumpet but over the summer found himself switching to guitar. After learning the basic chords and strumming along to a few of his favorite songs, he became hooked. With the combination of private lessons and self taught ideas, Jimmy took to the guitar quickly and began playing gigs as soon as possible. He found himself playing talent shows, coffee shops, small clubs, private parties, and youth soccer tournaments. He also began teaching local kids, as well as adults, in his neighborhood. When and wherever he could play, he would be there. After graduating from high school in Charlotte, NC, Jimmy moved to Charleston, SC. He began teaching lessons in the local area as well continuing to play live shows. Playing in various bands and musical projects Jimmy found himself looking for a change and a new market.

Jimmy now resides in Denver, CO teaching lessons alongside touring and playing in the Denver based band 'Public Safety'. His passion is music, but even more so playing music with other people. Through his lessons Jimmy likes to emphasize the importance of playing with others, particularly in front of an audience. Learning to understand where another musician is going and react, while also being creative yourself. He believes playing music can not only bring joy, but can build confidence. He enjoys lessons of all age and skill levels.
