About Jacob Wildes
Jacob Wildes has enjoyed a life-long passion for music and music education. Coming from a musical family, he first began learning piano at age 3. Jacob then joined his middle school band and began studying trumpet. Jacob earned his A.F.A. in Music in 2011 from Andrew College (Cuthbert, GA), where he studied piano performance with Dr. Ben McFather and music theory with Dr. Lanny Lanford.
In 2011, Jacob moved to Atlanta to pursue a career in music education and trumpet performance. He will earn his B.Mu. in Instrumental Music Education from Georgia State University in December 2014, with a concentration in trumpet performance. While at GSU, Jacob has been proud to perform with the Wind Ensemble, Wind Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra. Jacob has also performed with the GSU Brass Band, which performed a piece of his in December 2013. He has also been a featured soloist with both the GSU Pep Band and the nationally-acclaimed GSU Marching Band. Jacob studied trumpet at GSU with Dr. Amanda Pepping and ASO member Mr. Mike Tiscione. He was also a member of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps, a 2012 Drum Corps International World-Class Finalist performance ensemble. When he is not teaching or performing with GSU, Jacob enjoys being a freelance trumpet player around Atlanta.
Jacob is currently a full-time student teacher at Hillgrove High School in Cobb County, GA, where he is active in the area as a marching band instructor, performer, and trumpet teacher for private students and for schools across the Cobb area.
Jacob firmly believes that music education isn't just for future professional musicians - it should be for everyone! It is his sole aim to provide personalized, positive, valuable lessons each and every week to help his students reach their goals. Jacob is excited to offer his services to all LIYH trumpet students, and also to all beginner LIYH brass students.
