    About Heather DiStefano

Heather Di Stefano has been teaching music professionally since 2000. She started assisting teachers with small group lessons in 1998. She received her BS in psychology from Southeast Missouri State University in 2005 and completed her MA in music education at Lindenwood University in 2009.

Heather had a diverse college experience because she struggled to decide which music field she wanted to enter into. She studied general music, music therapy, music education and finished with a degree in psychology. After graduation, she began teaching music in the public school system and completed her masters in music education while she was teaching.

As a child, Heather competed in various contests and festivals including the National Federation of Music Clubs festivals, earning high ratings in piano, flute, voice, and music theory. In high school, Heather won several state level competitions for composition. In the summer of 1996 she attended the Missouri Fine Arts Academy and studied flute and composition.

In 2019 Heather moved from Missouri to Orlando. She worked with Central Florida Community Arts as a teaching artist, implementing many of their community outreach programs and teaching private lessons. Since then, Heather has worked at private schools in the Orlando area. She looks forward to being able to focus on private lessons full time.

Outside of music, Heather enjoys swimming, crocheting, sewing, and reading. She has a mini poodle named Stella who enjoys going on many walks every day.
