Teacher Profile: Gary Malone

About Gary Malone

Gary Malone is an active musician currently living in Orlando, Florida. Growing up in Mississippi he was immersed in a plethora of different styles of music, with a father that is a singing guitar player and a mother that enjoys all music from pop to hip hop to heavy metal. From a young age teaching and performing music were high up on his list of goals. A choir singer from the age of 8 years old, Gary would go on to receive a bachelor's degree in general music at Rollins College, where he focused in classical voice, choral conducting, and songwriting. In addition to cultivating a passion for choral singing, Gary began playing the drums and piano around the same age, and at the age of 14 he was gifted a guitar which quickly became his primary instrument.

Gary is currently a singer with Entertainment Central Productions, a talent agency in Orlando, Florida, that has landed him multiple positions performing in a cappella groups at Universal Studios Orlando and Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay. He is a current member of the Ragtime Gals, a seasonal barbershop group that performs at Universal Studios. In 2019, Gary performed at all of the Florida dates of the "Game of Thrones Live Music Tour" as a singer. In addition to these accomplishments he regularly gigs as a solo singer-songwriter and cover artist, works as a substitute choir singer for a few different churches, and plays bass guitar for the extreme metal group Trash Panda. He has been an active member in the Florida heavy metal scene since 2013. Gary has been a private music teacher since 2014.

Gary is a firm believer in playing music that you love, as he was originally self-taught learning all of the songs he was passionate about. Implementing a digestible amount of music theory, he is set on helping students internalize and fully understand the principles and applications of music theory in correlation with playability on their respective instrument.
