Music is a language that allows us to express the inexpressible. From an early age, Gann was drawn to this world and started picking up instruments – first learning piano then moving on to guitar, then bass, and then whatever else was in arm’s reach. Gann started to write, record, and perform original songs with these instruments and his voice. This passion for music motivated Gann to earn a degree in Music Performance with a concentration in Voice from the University of Colorado. Following graduation, Gann moved to New York City where he performed for nearly a decade, including opening for Patti Smith at The Bowery Ballroom on two consecutive New Year’s Eves.
As a teacher, Gann strives to pass on not only musical skills, but also the joy that musical expression gives us. Gann has experience teaching students from a wide range of ages and skill levels, and he adapts instruction to learning styles and musical interests. Gann’s students learn a selection of songs that appeal to their personal tastes and motivate them to grow as players. A lesson with Gann is both challenging and fun.
