Dottye Gilbert, is a well established piano teacher, guitarist, tuba player, and Music Therapist in the Dallas Ft. Worth area. Music has always been apart of her life since an early age. Starting at a very young age, she started playing the piano by ear which not knowing would change her life. She is firm believer that music is a universal language and everyone can experience music in their own way by improving not only their musical skills but enhance their quality of life in every way. She started in middle school playing the tuba all the way through College earning her a Music Scholarship to Abilene Christian University. Then transferred to Texas Woman’s University and UNT to study Music Therapy, education and performance. She has been a part of many bands and ensembles through out her career. She continued her studies as well in Piano. By having the ability to play by ear has really enhanced her skills in reaching out to all ages.
Along with performing on the piano and tuba she is a trained Music Therapist currently working her Board Certification. She has the training and experience to work with students of all ages with disabilities. By using music , She focuses her experience to enhance the emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual quality of peoples lives. This has helped her to be the teacher she is today.
