About Derick Jones
Derick Jones, a professional violinist and author from Bankhead in Atlanta, GA, began learning music from esteemed teachers in elementary school and once he reached 8th grade his family moved to Jonesboro and he was transferred to Pointe South Middle School and was the Concert Master for their orchestra and lead them to superior ratings at GMEA, performing on trumpet and violin.
During his high school years, he was also not short of achievement. For a time, he was the concertmaster of the chamber orchestras and lead as the principle violist in the symphonic, for GMEA, and a part of the Emory Youth Symphony and the Southern Crescent Youth Symphonies. He later went on to join the Southern Crescent Symphony and be in the 1st Violin Section.
Due to his academic achievements, Derick attained the Bill Gates Scholarship and decided to attend Georgia Teach where he further molded his self-dedication and was placed in the 1st Violin section in the Georgia Tech Symphony and Chamber ensembles.
In recent years, Derick has expanded his repertoire outside of his foundational classical music and arranges popular music to the violin to make learning more relatable and engaging for his students to supplement the more traditional material.
