Dandan L. Powell is a doctoral candidate majoring in piano performance and has a secondary emphasis on music theory at University of Northern Colorado. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, also in piano performance, at Sichuan Conservatory of Music in China. She teaches piano lessons at Colorado Christian University. She was also the piano instructor at Aims Community College in Colorado and worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at University of Northern Colorado for four years. She also worked as assistant director and taught piano lessons for Colorado International Piano Academy for three years. Dandan has nine years of experience teaching piano at all levels and to all ages of students. Some of her students have won national and International competitions, such as Walt Disney 90th Anniversary Piano Competition 2014, Greeley Youth Piano Competition, and Zhongxin International Piano competition and Festival in Singapore.
Dandan Powell is an accomplished concert pianist having performed in the United States, Europe and Asia. She performed with the Italy Perugia Orchestra as well as with local operas in Schloss Heusenstamm, Kurhaus, Bad Schwalbach in Germany. She was awarded a second-place prize at the Music Teacher National Association competition in Colorado, a second-place prize at the Italy Imola Piano Competition, and Excellent Teacher award at the Walt Disney 90th Anniversary of Piano Competition.
Dandan also helped holding the first Greeley-Youth Piano Competition in Colorado. She judged the First Greeley-Youth Piano Competition and Greeley Piano Competition in 2017 and 2018. She has been an officer at MTNA (Music Teacher National Associate) for three years. She also played with Symphonic Band, UNC Choir, Orchestra at University of Northern Colorado, and some local orchestra in Colorado State.
